At Least Two Eaglets!

There appears to be at least two eaglets in the nest now! Both adults have been seen simultaneously feeding eaglets in separate areas of the nest on several occasions. This tandem feeding will better insure that all of the eaglets will get enough food to grow strong.

As expected, the adult eagles have become more aggressive in defending the nesting area from intruders. Several times Tuesday evening they were seen chasing Great Blue Heron from the area. After flushing them from a nearby sycamore the eagle would perch in that tree and very loudly claim the tree as its own. I was again impressed at the speed of the eagle as it closed in on the wandering heron.

Also, as expected, the adults are again fishing the waters of Eastwood Lake and daily soaring above the lake. This greatly increases the opportunity to get a decent picture of them as the pass overhead.
